Princeton Youth Hockey Association's 12U A 2006 team conducted a drive over the course of four weeks, culminating on Valentine's Day, to collect household cleaning and bedding products to benefit the members of our community served by HomeFront, a non-profit organization that aims to break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness in central New Jersey.
Team managers Susan O'Dell and Susan Herndon decided on the household goods drive after volunteering at PYHA’s annual skating party for HomeFront. While the team was helping HomeFront's children learn to skate, O'Dell and Herndon had an opportunity to talk to some of HomeFront’s staff and volunteers and see where the biggest areas of need were at this time of year, and the Home Sweet Home Drive was born.
The collection yielded an assortment of pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, mops, buckets and household cleaners which will help HomeFront's clients who are making a fresh start.
